Summary
| Description | Introduced, spreading, submerged or mat-like, semi-aquatic hairless herb. Leaves are variable, mostly linear-spathulate, spathulate or obovate, 2–25 mm long, but mostly about 10 mm long and 5 mm wide, 3–7-veined. Flowers are usually paired with one of each sex but sometimes solitary. Fruit are subsessile, usually slightly longer than broad and about 1.5–2 mm wide. A native to Europe and northern Africa, it is now a widespread weed of freshwater wetlands, slow-moving waterways, lakes, dams, drains and artificial water bodies in the temperate regions of Australia. |
