Harlech Castle is a Grade 1 listed medieval castle in Harlech, Gwynedd, Wales. It was built by Edward I, king of England, during his attempt to conquer Wales between 1282 and 1289. It was raised at a relatively modest cost of £8,190. It is within Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri National Park. In 1294 Madog ap Llywelyn's Welsh rebels placed Harlech Castle under siege. The castle fell into the hands of Prince Owain Glyn Dŵr and became his home and military headquarters for four years.
