English: The Memorial Track to Cave Creek / Kotihotiho is named for the Cave Creek disaster of 28 April 1995, when 13 polytechnic students and a Department of Conservation staffer fell 30 m after the faulty viewing platform they were standing on collapsed. The Cave Creek track was renamed in 2020 on the 25th anniversary of the tragedy. The 1 h 10 min track descends into the deep narrow gorge and ends at the Cave Creek Resurgance, where the stream emerges from the ground.
