They did the executions when Red Army soldiers refused. The caption in Russian reads, "Even the sailors, these desperate hooligans and robbers were scared by the honest and life-giving cross of our Lord [held by the Orthodox priest]. Then the commissars called out the Chinese [CHON units of the Cheka] and they calmly without quivering shot the priest. This occurred in Moscow." |
