English: This is a typical a homemade Vegetarian thali of Chitpavan Brahmins or Kokanastha Brahmins. Starting from top right corner to left food items are Bhajji, Fried papad, Ukadicha Modak ( Dessert Steamed Dumpling), Batata Bhaji, Bhendi (Okra) , Poli ( Wheat flat bread), Masale Bhat, Varan Bhat, Khamanga kakdi ( Cucumber salad which consists of some Cucumber, chilli, roasted cumin groundnut and fresh coconut) , Dahi ( Yogurt), Puran ( Sweet made from Chana dal, jaggery and Cardamom) Coconut Chutney, lemon slice. Food served in bowls from top are as follows Kokansathan Amti, Kesar Shrikhand, Usal (Moth beans), Kadhi , Mattha ( Buttermilk with some spices , ground green chilli and coriander sprinkled on top of it.
Traditionally meals are served on Banana leaf and for drinking water or in cooking people used utensils made from brass.
