Summary
| Description | Over the 2016 Christmas and New Year period Network Rail undertook extensive work on the line between Newport and Bridgend in connection with the Cardiff Area Signalling Renewals scheme. The work necessitated the temporary closure of four level crossings (to road traffic) to the west of Cardiff, including the one at St Fagans. This picture shows the scene at St Fagans just after midnight on Christmas Day morning. Information on the local community council's website (supplied by Network Rail) described how the control of the level crossing at St Fagans was being transferred from the crossing itself (the building on the extreme right of the picture) to the Wales Route Operations Centre in Cardiff, and that the floodlighting on the crossing was being upgraded - www.stfaganscommunitycouncil.org.uk/St-Fagans-Cc/news_and... . |
