DescriptionCompany Gardens Eastern or Lioness Gate.jpg
English: In Victorian times, lions were kept in the Company Gardens in the grounds of what is now Cape Town High School. The gates for the original lions’ enclosure remain as portals on either side of the upper end of Government Avenue. The Western Gateway is flanked by two lionesses.
