Description

While in Stourbridge, I noticed on Google Maps, that Mary Stevens Park was a short walk away down Worcester Street, so I went to check it out, before returning to Stourbridge Town Station, to catch the Stourbridge Shuttle back to Stourbridge Junction again.


Mary Stevens Park is a public park located in Norton, Stourbridge, West Midlands, UK. Opened to the public in 1931, it attracts 1.3 million visitors per year.

The park has a lake, a bandstand, and a mixture of open spaces and woodland. Facilities include tennis courts, a bowling green, an outdoor gym, a café and a children's play area.


Council House. Now the offices of Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council.


Statue of Major Frank Foley

Unveiled by HRH The Duke of Cambridge on the 18th September 2018.


Major Frank Edward Foley CMG (1884 - 1958) who lived in quiet retirement near this park but in the 1930s helped over 10,000 Jewish people escape from the Holocaust, whilst working as British Passport Control Officer in Berlin.

He who saves one, saves the world.
