Deutsch: Das von Otto Hupp 1909 entworfene Wappen bezieht sich auf Siegel, die bereits 1248 nachweisbar sind. Turm und Burg sind in der Gegend nicht nur Symbole für eine Stadt sondern auch Hinweise auf eine alte Burg und den Stadtnamen.
English: The arms were officially granted 1909 and were designed by Otto Hupp. The arms are derived from seals which are known since 1248. The castle represents both the city rank as well as castle part of the name. It also forms part of the arms of the county Bitburg.
