Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Ergste, seit 1975 Stadtteil von Schwerte: „Gespalten in Grün und Silber (Weiß); vorn ein linksgerichteter rotbezungter silberner (weißer) Wolfskopf, hinten drei grüne Stechpalmenblätter im Verhältnis 2:1.“ Die Farben Grün und Silber stehen für Wald und Fluss (Ruhr), vorn der silberne Wolfskopf mit roter Zunge erinnert an den bedeutenden Ergster Sagenkreis und die Sage vom Werwolf; hinten sind die Zeichen der Herren von Ergste drei gestielte, stark gezahnte Blätter (als Stechpalmenblätter zu deuten) zu sehen.
English: „Per pale vert a langued gules wolf head sinister vert and Argent three upright Ilex leaves vert in ratio 2:1.“
The arms were granted in 1958. The wolf head is derived from a saga about a werewolf, called "Ergster Werwolf" and the ilex leaves are derived from the arms of the Lords of Ergste. |
