English: Single, dandelion-like, pendent capitulum ('flower') of Dendroseris litoralis Skottsb. (family : Asteraceae) a critically endangered (IUCN 2.3) small tree endemic to one of the Juan Fernandez Islands of Insular Chile. Capitulum borne by large cultivated specimen flowering freely in a border in the Temperate House of Kew Gardens.
Species formerly placed in the Sow Thistle genus Sonchus. Huge rubbery / leathery leaves very distinctive. Species would make interesting 'architectural' foliage plant with added bonus of lax inflorescence of tassel-like, yellow-orange 'flowers' (capitula).
