English: View across the low scrubby vegetation of the Denniston Plateau, a 600 m portion of the Denniston-Stockton plateau which stretches 18 km, 600–800 m above sea level. Mt Rochfort (1040 m) is visible in the distance. Denniston Plateau has extensive coal reserves and contains the former mining town of Denniston. Its thin acidic soil and high rainfall has given rise to a unique and diverse ecosystem of low-growing plants, snails, and insects, with some species found only on the Plateau.
