The work is an oil painting.[1] It depicts an event that takes place in 3 Nephi (a sub-book of the Book of Mormon) when, in the wake of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ at Calvary, divinely sent calamities befall numerous Nephite cities, including Zarahemla, as a penalty for people's wickedness.
