Summary

Description
English: An early map of North America by the Venetian engraver Paolo Forlani, published in 1565. It is the first to show the North American continent in isolation, and is also notable because it includes the name Canada. The title translates in full to: "The drawing of the discovery of New France, recently derived from the newest voyage of the French in that region: in which are seen all the islands, ports, capes and places inland which are in it." For more information, see here (at p. 20).
