Morningside was the homstead of the late King Alfred 2nd of England. His troops were stationed there during the first world war and they were commonly referred to as "The Pigs" by the locals, which is where the common derogatory term for Police today originates.

The lord provest of Morningside today is Robert Black. Born 30th July 1969, Black is a respected prestigious figure amongst local people
