Prof. Biswajeet Pattanayak, Ph.D., D.Litt., D. Sc., FIMA Founder & President,ASBM University

Dr. Biswajeet Pattanayak is the Founder and President of ASBM University and Distinguished Professor of Organisational Behaviour & Human Resource Management. He is Ph.D. and D.Litt. in Organisational Behaviour, D. Sc. In Management Science and is a Fellow of All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi. He has been appointed by the Hon’ble President of India as a member to the First Court (the highest body of Governance) of Central University of Rajasthan and to the Court (the highest body of Governance) of Guru Ghasidas Central University, Chhatisgarh. He has recently been elected to the Council of Management of All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi for the term 2014 – 16.

Prior to this, he was the Vice Chancellor of KIIT University and Director, Indian Institute of Bank Management (IIBM), Guwahati - an institution of Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Earlier, he was a Professor in the area of Human Resource Management & Organizational Behaviour and Chair Person of Human Resource Management Area in Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore. He has also worked with Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai, Steel Authority of India Limited and ESSAR Group.

He has to his credit more than 85 research publications in national and international referred Journals and 23 books published by well-known publishers like Prentice Hall, Sage, Excel Books and Bloomsbury. His book "Creating Performing Organisation' has been a global best seller of Amazon.com. His papers are regularly published in reputed international journals like Organisation Development Journal (USA), HRD International (UK), International Journal of Psychology (UK), International Journal of HRD & Management (UK) etc. He has presented a number of papers and also Chaired sessions both in National and International Conferences.

He has conducted a large number of Management Development Programs and consultancy assignments for reputed Public, Private and Multinational Companies, including the World Bank. He was recently honoured with citation by noted award winning writers Mr. Amitav Ghosh and Mrs. Shobhaa De on behalf of the Arya Vedant Society for his seminal contribution to the field of management. He is also the recipient of “Decaan Herald Award for Best Teacher in Management, 2008”, “Dewang Mehta Award for Best Professor in HRM by Dewang Mehta Foundation, 2008”, "Decan Herald Best Teacher in HR & OB Award, 2005", "Rashtriya Shiksha Ratan Award" of AIBDA, New Delhi, “President of India Award”, "SRUJANI Creativity Award of SAIL”, “SULZER Man of IE National Award in Human Resource” of NITIE and “Career Award” of AICTE.

Prof. Pattanayak conducted a continuing workshop in the 62nd Annual Convention of the International Council of Psychologists in 2004 at Jinan, China on Team building and Leadership, based on the Oscar nominated movie 'Lagaan", at the invitation of the Council that was attended by delegates representing 64 countries and had excellent rating by American Psychological Association. He also chaired scientific session on Group and Organisational Psychology in the same Convention. He has presented papers as an invited paper presenter in XXVIII International Congress of Psychology, 2004 at Beijing, China and XXVII International Congress of Psychology, 2000 at Stockholm, Sweden. Prof. Pattanayak is popularly known as the LAGAAN Professor after his innovation in teaching through the introduction of 'Lagaan' movie in course curriculum of IIM, Indore in 2001.
