Description Durham Diocesan Training School for the education of schoolmasters (founded 1839), which became Bede College, and in 1979 became part of Durham University along with St Hild college (built 1856-1858). In 1856 Gibson Kyle designed a "model school" extension where children could be taught. The building in the background is possibly St Hild College (for women) or St Bede College.
