English: Iowa City firemen battle a 1926 Englert Theatre fire from the roof of the adjoining Parks Transfer building (later Pla-Mor Bowling). The interior of the theater was destroyed, and rebuilt by a determined Etta Chopek Englert Hanlon. The apparent vantage point of the photographer is the belfry of the 1881 City Hall located across Washington Street from the Englert at that time in what now is a bank drive-in facility.
