Summary

Description
English: Eugene Lanceray. Watercolor: Draft for the reconstruction of the town on Istra, 1942. The fantastic, absolutely unreal project led by Alexey Shchusev was concocted in the spring-summer of 1942, when Istra was merely 150 kilometers from the bleeding Rzhev salient. The motives and the purpose of this exercise remain a mystery.
