Summary

Description A Vought F-8D (BuNo 148660) of fighter squadron VF-154 Black Knights in the early 1960s. VF-154 was flying the F-8D from 1961 to 1965, being assigned to Attack Carrier Air Wing Fifeteen (CVW-15) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea (CVA-43). The F-8D BuNo 148660 was later converted to a F-8H and crashed after experiencing fuel system problems during CAP mission on 12 August 1970 over Vietnam. At that time it was assigned to VF-162 "Hunters", CVW-8, aboard the aircraft carrier USS Shangri-La (CVS-38). The pilot ejected and was picked up by helicopter.
