This technology image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.

It is recommended to name the SVG file “FAA heli-manual Dissymmetry of lift.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.

Summary

Description
English: Effect of blade airspeed on lift on advancing and retreating side. Caption: The blade tip speed of this helicopter is approximately 400 knots. If the helicopter is moving forward at 100 knots, the relative windspeed on the advancing side is 400 knots. On the retreating side, it is only 200 knots. This difference in speed causes a dissymmetry of lift.
