English: The Fishermen’s Memorial is located on the Stacy Boulevard Esplanade in Gloucester, MA. The Fishermen’s Memorial, also known as “The Man At The Wheel,” was commissioned as part of the celebration of Gloucester’s 300th anniversary in 1923. The base of the statue was placed at the site that year, but the actual statue was not unveiled until 1925. The statue is a tribute to the 10,000 Gloucester fishermen who have lost their lives at sea over the centuries.
