DescriptionFreckles - The Rotherham Cow Whisperer (13968128718).jpg |
Model - Freckles Year Taken - May 2014 Camera - Sony A7R Lens - Carl Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 Location - Farm House Image Info Occasionally, on todays shoot, we were hit through beautiful midday sun pouring in through the big windows of the farm house studio I sometimes use. I wanted a shot that was going to light up Freckles' face and brighten her already beautiful eyes; whilst showing off her figure but in a soft, subdued way. Freckles Yep, I know, whats all this Cow Whisperer nonsense. Well, let me explain. Today, I was fortunate enough to work with a young lady who, due to potential name duplication with another girl in my portfolio, shall be known as Freckles...the name she has now adopted. She is a stunningly attractive girl, but unlike so many models you get to meet these days, she is also pretty. Yes, there is a difference between those two adjectives. Attractive is photogenic, striking; a look that does not necessarily imply beauty, but something you find it hard to pull your eyes away from. Pretty, this is the non-photographic sense of attraction, and it is not limited to the aesthetic. Freckles has both. She has the most incredible hair I have ever seen that hasn't come out of a packet and she has such a believable look that your photos automatically look candid. There is nothing about her that appears false or contrived, yet somehow she still manages to hold herself with the poise and confidence of a seasoned model. She somehow mixes a look of innocence with confidence and this produces images which are incredibly authentic and with a sense of time and place. I like her a lot, I like her look a lot; and that is not something, for me, that happens very often in photography. See although this is a hard thing to understand, or even believe, but I rarely find models attractive. Its a strange situation when working with models, but I think that because of the photography, because of the fact that you are trying to create art, everything else is removed. Thats not quite the case with Freckles. Now, you can see for yourself that she is beautiful; but do the images convey the reason why she is know known in my world as Freckles the Rotherham Cow Whisperer? Probably not. Well, she is ever so slightly crazy; in the nicest, most endearing of ways. You know that nice kind of crazy that makes you stare at people and feel a warmth coming from them that makes you smile for no reason? Yeah, I got that when she decided to stick her head out of the window (whilst still topless) and begin calling all of the cows over from the adjacent field. Yes, within moments, she had summoned them with a noise that sounded a little like cow, a little like dog and something else that I couldn't quite put my finger on. So there they were, 20 or so cows standing at the window looking at this crazy northern girl hanging out of the window talking. Their faces, similar to mine at that moment, were completely dumbfounded as to what the hell she was doing. But, also like me, they were transfixed. So yes, thats Freckles, the Cow Whisperer from Rotherham. Part lunatic, part model, part girl next door, part comedian. She really is everything you ever want from a model and Im so glad I got the chance to work with her. |
