English: Copy of the comic strip Freckles and His Friends from 1935
A search for renewals was done in both contributions to publications and artwork for the years 1962 and 1963. There were no listings for Merrill Blosser; the listings for NEA service were in artwork for 1963. There are a good many of them, but all listed are photos of the Dionne quintuplets. There were no listings for anything other than photos of the quints; there's no evidence that copyright continues to be claimed on this comic.
Note that it may still be copyrighted in jurisdictions that do not apply the rule of the shorter term for US works (depending on the date of the author's death), such as Canada (70 years p.m.a.), Mainland China (50 years p.m.a., not Hong Kong or Macao), Germany (70 years p.m.a.), Mexico (100 years p.m.a.), Switzerland (70 years p.m.a.), and other countries with individual treaties.
