35 mm slide; color. Scientific Classification: Kingdom: Animalia; Phylum: Chordata; Class: Reptilia; Order: Squamata; Family: Agamidae; Genus: Chlamydosaurus; Genus species: Chlamydosaurus kingii. Animal characteristics: Head-Body Length: 45-90 cm; Identification: The frilled dragon's body color ranges from brown or gray to red-brown. It has a long neck frill that varies from light brown to orange or yellow; Habitat: Sub humid to semiarid grassy woodlands, dry sclerophyll forests; Diet: Carnivore: insects, small invertebrates; Reproduction: Breeding takes place in the early spring, with females laying 8-14 eggs a piece; Behavior: These lizards are largely arboreal. When frightened, they will run away from the threat on their hind legs. The frill is extended only if the lizard is cornered; Status: No special status; Interesting Facts: The frill can be up to 20 cm across.
