Description
English: Commonwealth Railways GM class diesel-electric locomotive, no. GM2, with a passenger train, almost certainly the Trans-Australian, at Port Pirie, South Australia. The locomotive was built by Clyde Engineering of Granville, New South Wales, Australia. It entered service in November 1951, and is now preserved at the National Railway Museum (Port Adelaide).

This is one of a number of images in the collection of the State Library of South Australia depicting Commonwealth Railways locomotives said to have been taken in around 1951.
