Summary

Description
English: A GWR 'Pagoda' type waiting room that was typical for GWR halts at the GWS Didcot Railway Centre Halt, 20 April 2019. When the GWR started building in sparsely populated rural areas 'halts', and later 'platforms' (with longer platforms than a halt) in the Edwardian age, they also introduced cheap corrugated iron 'pagoda' shelters for waiting passengers. Despite their low cost, they were actually well-built of good quality materials and to exacting standards which explains their very long life. This example is finished in a typical GWR colour scheme of mid stone body with dark stone doors, guttering, downpipe, and roof ridge. The roof itself appears to be light stone or cream. The window frames are white. The wooden fence is mid stone and the benches dark stone.
