Object history Bronzino became the Florentine aristocracy's favorite portrait painter. With extraordinary technical skill, this painter excelled more at emphasizing the splendor of his sitters' social status than their psychology. He began working for Cosme of Medici in 1539, portraying both the Duke and his wife and children.
Exhibition history This work entered the Royal Collection from that of the Marquis of Serra.
