Geoffroi_de_Charny.png (187 × 229 pixels, file size: 116 KB, MIME type: image/png)
Summary
editFrom a 14th Century book called 'Demandes de la Chevalerie' held on the Spanish National Library's website. [1] The image is painted by artist Jean de Noir and is also the cover image of a new book written by Ian Wilson and published by Boydell and Brewer. [2].
The image is over 500 years old and so as the this is a photo of a two-dimensional work whose author died over 100 years ago, I believe it is acceptable to upload this image to Wikipedia.
Licensing
editThis image is in the public domain because under the Copyright law of the United States, originality of expression is necessary for copyright protection, and a mere photograph of an out-of-copyright two-dimensional work may not be protected under American copyright law. The official position of the Wikimedia Foundation is that all reproductions of public domain works should be considered to be in the public domain regardless of their country of origin (even in countries where mere labor is enough to make a reproduction eligible for protection). | ||||
