English: This photograph was taken in 1920 at one of the recording sessions for w:The Pirates of Penzance at HMV "supervised by the w:D'Oyly Carte Opera Company". The conductor, w:George W. Byng, is standing. The singers, from left to right, were: Seated: Bessie Jones, Violet Essex, Sarah Jones, Harold Wilde, w:Robert Radford; Standing: w:Derek Oldham, Walter Glynne, w:Ernest Pike, Edna Thornton, Peter Dawson, Edward Halland, George Baker and Nellie Walker. All of such persons are deceased.

Author Unknown. The website owner of the Gilbert and Sullivan Discography, which is the immediate source of the image, is Marc Shepherd, who reports that the photographer has not been identified despite ongoing attempts to identify him or her. All persons depicted in the photo are long deceased. See Who Was Who in the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company.
