The Hooper-Washtucna valley was prolific apple country. The McGregor family filled the valley with apple trees and shipped trainloads of fruit to Kansas and Nebraska. Ten thousand box orders were common. The McGregors used the Glen Ian apple box logo from 1905-1929. This painted board logo for Glen Ian Apples, Orchard Run features a kilt wearing, bagpipe playing apple from McGregor Land & Livestock in Hooper Washington. The name, Celtic for John’s Glen, honored John McGregor, the ranch general manager and one of Alex McGregor's three great-uncles who, with his grandfather, pioneered in the valley.
