English: CREATED IN 1939 AS THE FIRST SMALL UPLAND WATERSHED IN AGRICULTURAL USE TO DEMONSTRATE THAT SOIL, WATER, AND WILDLIFE CONSERVATION AND FLOOD CONTROL COULD BE ACHIEVED THROUGH COOPERATIVE LOCAL ACTION. 5 FARMS WERE INVOLVED TOTALING 650 ACRES. THE FARMERS INVOLVED WERE TROUBLED BY THE EROSION OF THEIR LAND AND APPLIED TO THE SOIL CONSERVATION SERVICE FOR ASSISTANCE IN DEVELOPING A CONSERVATION PLAN. THE HOUSE PICTURED IS THAT OF FORREST CROOKS WHO WAS THE ONE OF THE 5 FARMERS. HIS SON STILL LIVES IN THE HOUSE
