Summary

Description
English: The Mar is a 65 ft. wooden ketch built in Frederiksberg, Denmark in 1959 by world renowned American aviator, author, filmmaker, sailor, fisherman and conservationist, Ernest K. Gann (he named her the Black Watch). Because he also planned to sail her in icy waters, she was built with 2¾" larch planks, and has 12 tons of lead in her keel. She was the subject of a documentary film produced by her next owner, Charles Tobias of the Pusser’s Rum Company, and has twice circumnavigated the world. It now offers daily sailing tours of Halifax Harbour. Passengers can choose from a number of tour types including afternoon pirate cruise, cocktail cruise, party cruise, and moonlight cruise. The vessel is also available for private charters.
