Summary

Description
English: This heart scarab of Pharaoh Sobekemsaf I in the form of a scarab beetle with a human face, is inscribed with an early version of Chapter 30B of the Book of the Dead, the magical Ancient Egyptian text intended to prevent the heart from testifying against its owner. It is carved from green jasper, set in a gold mount, and is the earliest known example of such an amulet made for a king. This object originates from Dra' Abu el-Naga' where Sobekemsaf I’s now lost tomb is believed to be located. Its catalogue number is EA7876 and it dates to the Seventeenth Dynasty of Egypt around 1590-1575 BCE.
