Family: Malvaceae Distribution: Found through out the tropics. Photographed in my kitchen garden.The leaves of the plant are used as leafy vegetable and a favourite pickle is prepared in Andhra Pradesh, which is known as "Gongura pachchadi" Fiber is extracted from the stem, which is used in agricultural activities. Description: 1-1.5m tall herbs, leaves deeply 3-5 lobed, serrate margin, slightly hairy, leaves sour to taste, Flowers solitary axillary, 4-5 cm across, light yellow with a dark purple throat, Capsule globose, apiculate, bristly, seed are also edible.
