Français : Chronologie de l'essaim de séismes de l'Ubaye entre janvier 2003 et décembre 2004. Chaque barre rouge représente le nombre de séismes détectés chaque jour. Le maximum d'activité a été atteint le 23 juin 2003 avec 361 séismes (barre sortant des limites du graphique). Plus de 16 000 séismes ont été détectés de janvier 2003 à décembre 2004. Les disques blancs correspondent, pour chaque date, aux magnitudes des quelque 1 400 séismes qui ont pu être localisés (échelle de magnitude sur la droite du graphique, de 0 à 3). Les plus fortes magnitudes ont été atteintes en octobre 2003 et en juillet 2004 : 2,6 le 6 octobre 2003, 2,7 le 16 octobre 2003, 2,6 le 27 octobre 2003, 2,6 le 24 juillet 2004.
English: Each red bar shows the number of earthquakes daily detected (left-handside scale). More than 16,000 earthquakes were detected within 2 years. White circles show the magnitude of ~1,400 earthquakes which could be located (right-handside magnitude scale). Sismalp (the local monitoring network) was not able to locate all events below magnitude 1, which explains why very-small-magnitude events are seemingly lacking. (According to the Gutenberg-Richter law, M0 events are approximately 10 times more numerous than M1 events.) |
