YONKERS. I 15 Knox, James Stewart, Warren B. Smith, RudolfEickemeyer, Charles Clark, William H. Doty, Au-gustus Marsh, William F. Cochran and William P.Ketcham. Mr. John Olmsted has been president from the be-ginning, being still in the active duties of the office.The first cashier was Mr. Egbert Howland, who re-signed May 1, 1875, on account of impaired health,and died January 12, 1878. Mr. Howland, beforecoming to Yonkers, had started and been successivelythe cashier of the two banks of discount still flourish-ing in Peekskill and Somers. He was the workingpower of the First National Bank of Yonkers duringhis connection with it. Mr. William D. Olmsted be-came cashier of the bank when Mr. Howland re-signed in 1875, having been assistant cashier fromSeptember 15, 1871. Mr. Olmsted resigned thecashiership September 10, 1878, when Mr. WallisSmith was appointed cashier. Mr. Smith is stillin office. Mr. James T. Howland entered thebank at its opening, as clerk.
