Summary
editDescription | Still from a video released by Hamas to show their mercy in releasing a mother and her two children (she is holding a 4.5 month old baby under her dress). The woman is Avital Aladjem, a Kibbutz Holit resident, who was taken captive after militants broke into her house and shot the neighbour she was hiding with. The children are not hers but rather her neighbour Adi Vital-Kaploun’s children. Vital-Kaploun was killed just before the militants broke into Aladjem’s home. The children were taken captive. Just before they reached the Gaza border fence the older child who had been shot in the leg and was being carried by a militant continuously screamed about not wanting to go. The militants put him down and told them to go. The still is of the moment after this happened. The militants in the foreground walk off to Gaza. Aladjem walks towards the child, hugs him, and they begin walking back to the kibbutz which is where the video ends. After hiding from other militants behind sandunes, they were met and escorted back by IDF soldiers. The children were eventually reunited with their father. |
