Summary

Description

New Orleans: Industrial Canal Floodgate W 30. The floodgate here at the L&N railroad bridge over the Industrial Canal was not properly closed in advance of Hurricane Katrina, and was one of the first places where flooding came in to the bulk of the city west of the Industrial Canal. Given the multiple levee breaches which would soon after flood the majority of the city, it is not clear how much this contributed to the disaster. To left is the Interstate 10 high rise bridge.
