Español: Las monjas de Nuestra Señora de la Concepción fundaron su comunidad en 1597. Su congregación iba en aumento y para 1604 ya tenían una iglesia y un claustro, que fueron muy dañados por el terremoto de 1621. Hacia 1640 se empezó una nueva iglesia de calicanto, la cual estaba inconclusa cuando sobrevino el desastre de 1671. En los predios del convento, que llegó a ocupar dos manzanas de la ciudad o un área aproximada de 6800 metros cuadrados, también quedan las ruinas de un gran aljibe, único en su tipo en Panamá Viejo.
