editMembers of the 35th Battalion of the Irish Army (United Nations Operation in the Congo force) manning a position on the railroad overlooking the Elizabeth road tunnel's entrance in the Congo in September 1961 during the fighting accompanying Operation Morthor. Later in that year, the Irish army was again in action at the tunnel, when the 36th Battalion attacked and captured the railroad bridge as part of Operation Unikat in December 1961. (During the Congo Crisis).
