Summary

  • Description: Islands of Samar and Leyte, Philippine Islands. The Philippine Islands are rarely photographed from space because of the usual heavy cloud cover. This rare glimpse of the Philippines shows the islands of Samar and Leyte (12.0N, 125.0E). The image appears as one big island because of clouds over the narrow Ionobatas Channel separating Samar, the larger of the two islands, from Leyte.
