Description

Jazz, Ltd. building 164 E. Grand Ave., Chicago in May 1960, front of building The original 8.5” by 11” black and white photo depicts the north side of 100 block of East Grand Ave.. It is an advertisement for the three story building adjacent to Jazz. Ltd., as indicated by the realtor’s text on the bottom of the photo, “Howard L. Storch and Browne V. Storch, Inc.” Handwritten on the top left: “The club seated 180 – club #1 seated, ridiculously, only 87 –“The reverse of the photo is an illustration of the floor plan of the building for sale.

The final photo was scanned from the original and digitally cropped and edited to remove: the lamp post in front of the Jazz, Ltd. building with its shadow, the trolley cables crossing in front of Jazz, Ltd. sign, and the real estate text at bottom, along with tears and creases of photo. The contrast was then adjusted.
