Jessica Bruder - Is Nomadland Our Future? | Talks at Watershed | Watershed Subscribe: http://wshd.to/youtube A Watershed event in partnership with Bristol Ideas

Following a cinema screening of Nomadland, journalist Jessica Bruder discusses her book Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century, the inspiration for the film directed by Chloé Zhao and starring Frances McDormand that has won awards for Best Picture at the Oscars® and Best Film at this year's BAFTAs.

In conversation with Andrew Kelly, director of Bristol Ideas, Bruder discusses the dark underbelly of the American economy – one which foreshadows the precarious future that may await many more of us – and celebrates the exceptional resilience and creativity of people who have given up ordinary rootedness to survive, but have not given up hope.

Watershed is a three-screen cinema in Bristol UK showing independently produced films from Britain and beyond. We are also a centre for art and creative technology: home to the Pervasive Media Studio, where artists, technologists and academics work on projects and products at the cutting edge of art, science and digital.
