English: This is really Peter Hanley's research, I adapted this from his work on http://www.doctorjazz.co.uk/draftcards2.html. I like the way I arranged the two sides of the draftcard into one image. The reason I'm adding it to Wikimedia is because according to this card, the wikipedia page on King Oliver had his birthdate wrong (shows both 12/19/1885 and 5/11/1885 in different parts of page). I'm going to include this image on the King Oliver wiki. It is also an important document because his wife Stella Oliver remembered him (in an interview) coming to Chicago in May 1919, when this document proves Oliver was already in Chicago in September 1918 and working on State Street as a musician. |
