English: Juniper, Levin Down The Down is a nature reserve run by Sussex Wildlife Trust. It is a mixture of chalk downland and scrub, and is important for its yew and juniper scrub. There is also a small area of chalk heathland.
This picture shows juniper heavy with berry - one can only marvel at the thought processes that decided such a prickly harvest was worth taking, let alone working out distilling the results to produce gin! |
