Kanuti Hot Springs ACEC, Alaska
Kanuti Hot Springs is a small (40 acres) Area of Critical Environmental Concern on BLM public land 8-miles off the Dalton Highway. Reaching as hot as 150 degrees Farenheit, the hot springs sometimes may be too hot for comfort and visitors who want to soak in the springs move rock to strategic locations in order to pool cooler water from a stream flowing into the hot spring. The Kanuti Hot Springs earned ACEC status for the value of the hot spring system. Unlike most hot springs in the Interior, it has not been commercially developed.
