Bahasa Indonesia: Koteka adalah pakaian untuk menutup kemaluan laki-laki dalam budaya sebagian penduduk asli Pulau Papua. Koteka terbuat dari kulit labu air (Lagenaria siceraria).Isi dan biji labu tua dikeluarkan dan kulitnya dijemur. Secara harfiah, Koteka bermakna "pakaian", berasal dari bahasa salah satu suku di Paniai. Sebagian suku pegunungan Jayawijaya menyebutnya holim atau horim.
Tak sebagaimana anggapan umum, ukuran dan bentuk koteka tak berkaitan dengan status pemakainya. Ukuran biasanya berkaitan dengan aktivitas pengguna, hendak bekerja atau upacara. Banyak suku-suku di sana dapat dikenali dari cara mereka menggunakan koteka. Koteka yang pendek digunakan saat bekerja, dan yang panjang dengan hiasan-hiasan digunakan dalam upacara adat. Setiap suku memiliki perbedaan bentuk koteka. Orang Yali, misalnya, menyukai bentuk labu yang panjang. Sedangkan orang Tiom biasanya memakai dua labu. Sekarang Koteka hanya dipakai ketika suku tersebut memakai pakaian adat atau dalam ritual adat. |
