NOTES:
The National Anthem of Cuba was written by Pedro Felipe (Perucho) Figueredo, a patriot, in the year 1868 during the Revolution. He composed it in Bayamo, the first town captured in the War against Spain. It was sung by a quartet of girls from the San Carlos Institute (a grammar school in Key West owned and operated by the Cuban government, with classes taught in both English and Spanish).
