English: This drawing is part of a set illustrating episodes and sites from the German and Polish campaigns in 1806 and 1807, and the meeting between Napoleon and Tsar Alexander I on the Niemen. As early as 1805, Dominique Vivant Denon proposed to the Emperor to publish a collection of prints illustrating his military campaigns. He called on several artists including Benjamin Zix, Constant Bourgeois de Castelet, Hippolyte Lecomte and Nicolas Antoine Taunay. They were responsible for accurately drawing the battlefields and locations of a significant event
